Weeekly's Monday was on The King of Mask Singer

It had been her dream to join the show since she was a trainee.

The main vocalist of Play M Entertainment's new girl group Weeekly made quite a splash on a recent episode of MBC’s The King of Mask Singer.

Monday (whose birth name is Kim Minji) performed as Drawing Lots. The 20-year-old from Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, sang AKMU’s “How can I love the heartbreak, you’re the one I love” in a bid to make it to the next stage of the competition.

Unfortunately, she lost by a single vote and had to unmask herself. After Monday revealed her identity to the panelists, Sandara Park said it was a shame she had been eliminated.

Monday, for her part, said she was grateful for the opportunity to be on The King of Mask Singer. She admitted to wanting to appear on the show when she was a trainee.

Despite failing to advance, Monday was happy that she made it as far as she did.

“My biggest goal was to let people know there’s someone who can sing like this even in a rookie girl group. The other Weeekly members are also really talented," she told the panelists and the show's MC, Kim Sung Joo.

I'm looking forward to hearing more from Monday and her bandmates!
