"School 2021" was a gift for Cho Yi-hyun, a 22-year-old actor from South Korea.

She told the Korea Herald on Monday that she gained a lot of new experiences as a result of the drama, and that it helped her take another step towards becoming a better actor.

"'School 2021' was my first television series, in which I served as the main character and was in command of the storyline from the beginning to the end," says the actress. The fact that I had to perform more than 30 scenes and a large number of lines in one episode, which was completely different from acting 5-6 scenes in my previous projects, made me feel a little bit under pressure," Cho said in an interview with The Korea Herald on Monday at Artist Company in Gangnam, Seoul.

"However, the pressure quickly turned into exhilaration. "I felt privileged and glad to have been given the opportunity to play Jin Ji-won," she continued.

Ji-won is a determined student in a vocational high school with a strong sense of self. She aspires to be a top carpenter and is adamant about not attending university, believing that most people go to college without a compelling cause.

In addition, having a leading role changed her position on set, which allowed her to grow as an actor even when she was not in front of the camera.

The majority of the cast members from "School 2021" were first-time actors who were either making their television series debut or filming their first episode. "I sought to assist them in the same way that seasoned actors assisted me in projects such as "Hospital Playlist" (2021)," Cho explained.

Cho, who made her acting debut in 2018, was unsure whether she was the right person to offer advise, but she was pleased to share the lessons and knowledge she had gained from working with professional actors.

When asked if she was ever hesitant to reprise her roles as a student and a younger sister, Cho responded that her characters were distinct save for the fact that they were both around the same age.

The fact that I am wearing the school uniforms gives me a sense of accomplishment." Since I was a middle and high school student, I've had a strong desire to wear them every day. If the filmmakers chose me to star in a school series, I will gladly accept the opportunity and switch to a different uniform," Cho continued.

And "School 2021" was significant for Cho because it forced her to confront herself with the task of creating and portraying a new type of character.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor confessed, "I was hesitant to play a vibrant character because I thought I was more of a calm and boring type."

In the beginning, I was embarrassed to make charming movements and remarks, but towards the conclusion of the series, I had become accustomed to them and the director told me it was too much and prevented me from making those motions and remarks anymore. I am quite pleased with my progress and believe that this experience will undoubtedly help me to further develop my abilities as an actress in the future.

Cho stated that she is reading many different scripts in order to reveal different sides of herself to the public, while also taking the opportunity to rejuvenate herself in preparation for future endeavors.
