The Netflix' mini-series was directed by Lee Jae Gyu, who has previously worked on "Damo," "Beethoven Virus," and the film "Intimate Strangers."

In a recent interview, the director of the new Netflix miniseries "All of Us Are Dead" discussed his thought process behind the drama, his reaction to its success, and more!

"All of Us Are Dead" is a Netflix original series about a group of kids who are awaiting rescue following a zombie outbreak at their school. Following the worldwide success of "Squid Game," "Hellbound," and "Arcane," the show rose to the top of Netflix charts in 25 countries within a day of its official release on January 28. It became the fourth Korean series to reach the top of global charts.

Park Ji Hu, Yoon Chang Young, Cho Yi Hyun, and Solomon star in "All of Us Are Dead," which is directed by Lee Jae Gyu, who has previously worked on "Damo," "Beethoven Virus," and the film "Intimate Strangers." He is accompanied by writer Chun Sung Il, who has written "Slave Hunters" and "The Pirates."

"I genuinely can't believe all the love it has received from so many nations around the world, I'm so thankful," Lee Jae Gyu expressed his gratitude for the series' success. I believe this will come as a huge relief to all of the actors and crew who have worked on this project over the past two years."

Following its premiere, many remarked on how faithful the series was to the original webtoon that served as its inspiration. "It's comparable to the main premise in terms of the original work," Lee Jae Gyu stated. The storyline's pace is likewise fairly similar to the original."

"However, you might get the impression that the show is different from the original in terms of specific situations that occur to some of the kids as well as what each of the characters are like," he continued, emphasizing that his goal was to maintain the webtoon's original appeal for its readers while also bringing excitement and relatability to viewers who were encountering the series for the first time.

Lee Jae Gyu revealed that when deciding what perspective to go with the series, the main focus ended up being the zombie theme. "The series obtained an 18+ rating for roughly seven distinct reasons," the director explained, "which is one to two more than 'Squid Game' or 'Hellbound.'" "There are some gruesome and violent sequences, but we felt they were vital to keep the zombie genre alive."

"All of Us Are Dead" is particularly notable for its cast members' relative inexperience, which Lee Jae Gyu believes will work well together on set. He explained, "I thought that bringing on actors who were brilliant at acting but were still unknown to the public would contribute to the immersion of the series." "I feel that as you watch the show, you will fall more and more in love with both the characters and the actors that play them." It demonstrates how appealing each character is."
