BIGBANG Announces Spring Comeback + T.O.P Ends Contract With YG

This is their first group comeback in 4 years!

BIGBANG will return to the K-pop industry this spring following a four-year absence due to the members' mandated military service, according to the group's management agency.

In a press statement, YG Entertainment stated, "BIGBANG will release a new single in the approaching spring." "The group has finished recording the new song and is planning to shoot a music video for it."

The group's return date and the title of the new song, on the other hand, are yet unknown.

BIGBANG debuted as a five-member group in 2006 and has since spawned a slew of hit singles, including "Lies," "Last Farewell," "Fantastic Baby," and "Bang Bang Bang," putting them at the forefront of an Asia-wide pop music boom.

T.O.P, G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung, in that order, were enlisted in military service, which caused the group to take a four-year break. In a country where North Korea poses a persistent security threat, all able-bodied South Korean men must serve in the military for around two years.

Seungri, who has yet to complete his duty, was kicked out of the band and YG Entertainment after a nightclub linked to him was investigated for drug usage and sexual abuse. In August of last year, he was convicted to three years in jail on nine crimes, including prostitution mediation and international gambling, and is presently serving his sentence in a military prison.

T.O.P, the group's primary rapper, is anticipated to stay away from the music scene for the time being after receiving a suspended prison sentence for smoking pot in 2017.

YG has stated that after the group's comeback, he will leave his contract with the agency and pursue opportunities as an artist and entrepreneur.

"We decided to accept his opinion that he wishes to expand the scope of his independent activities outside of BIGBANG and discussed the topic thoroughly with other members," the firm added. "If he is accessible, he will participate in BIGBANG events at any moment."
