Suga of BTS and Kim Hee Sun have made generous gifts to help victims of the ongoing wildfire that started on Korea's eastern coast earlier this month.
On Friday, March 4, a major wildfire broke out on a mountain near the beach town of Uljin in North Gyeongsang Province on Korea's eastern coast. It then spread to the nearby city of Samcheok in Gangwon Province, and then to other eastern coastal cities like as Donghae and Gangneung.
Other celebrities that have donated include Shin Min Ah, Park Min Young, Lee Jong Suk, Yoo Jae Suk, Kim Hye Soo, IU, Kim Go Eun, Lee Byung Hun, Hyeri from Girl's Day, and Song Kang Ho.
Suga gave 100 million won (about $81,000) to the Hope Bridge Association of the National Disaster Relief on March 9. Suga made the donation in honor of his birthday, according to the organization (March 9). "I hope [my donation] would be used for residents who are suffering from the damages caused by the wildfire," he expressed his warm heart.
"With the warm hearts of Suga, a member of the global musician BTS, and their fans, we will do our best to support the victims of the wildfire so that they may get back on their feet," said Kim Jung Hee, secretary general of Hope Bridge.
Suga isn't the only person to undertake a good gesture in honor of his birthday. Suga gave 100 million won to aid pediatric cancer sufferers last year.
The Republic of Korea National Red Cross received a donation of 100 million won from Kim Hee Sun. "I made a gift to share the anguish of those who lost their houses due to the unforeseen wildfire and to help repair the forest a little," the actress said of the group. I hope that the victims of the wildfire can return to their normal life as soon as possible, and that the forest that was devastated by the fire can be restored as soon as feasible."
