Jung Ho-Yeon Hints at "Squid Game" Comeback

She might play an important role in the next season.

Because of overwhelming public demand, "Squid Game" creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has announced that the series would return for a second season. However, one burning issue remains: who will feature in the second season?

When interviewed by the press on the red carpet at the Producers Guild Awards event on March 19, Hwang revealed that he was working on a number of concepts and indicated that Jung Ho-yeon would play the part of a twin sister to Sae-byeok, Jung's character who perished in the last game of season 1.

However, it may be premature to declare that Jung's return to "Squid Game" in season 2 is a done deal at this point, as casting is still in the early stages of development.

In a statement to The Korea Herald on Tuesday, a Netflix representative said, "Discussion regarding the new season is currently underway, but no specifics have been verified."

According to the Korea Herald, Jung's agency, Saram Entertainment, has stated that there has been no discussion on a "Squid Game" sequel.

In addition to having established a reputation in the modeling industry, Jung made her on-screen debut in the Netflix worldwide blockbuster "Squid Game," where she played the character of defector Sae-byeok from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

In recognition of her work in "Squid Game," Jung received a Screen Actors Guild Award for best performance by a female actress in a drama series on February 28.
