Sasaengs—fans who cross the line by invading their idols’ privacy in many ways—are the bane of the K-pop world. Unfortunately for THE BOYZ, they’ve had to deal with a rise in sasaeng activity lately.
Sasaengs were caught entering the building where THE BOYZ’s dorm is located. They even brought cameras with them to take photos and videos of their idols’ private space. As if that wasn’t bad enough, some followed the members to their agency and salon.
THE BOYZ’s agency, Cre.Ker Entertainment, brought the matter to the police in a bid to solve the problem. Their fan club manager then released a statement, which said that anyone engaging in sasaeng behavior around their artists would be dealt with according to the law.
"After this announcement, any person that continuously causes such inconveniences through visiting private spaces (such as the agency, dorms, and salon) as well as visiting private schedules to film the event, will be banned from participating in all fan activities. In addition, they will not be given further warnings and we will proceed directly with collecting evidence such as CCTV footage and black box footage so as to deal with it by the law."
THE BOYZ’s fan club manager ended the statement with an appeal to all THE B (the group’s fandom name) to behave properly.
"We hope that you will also stop actions that cause discomfort, such as visiting the artists as well as obtaining their contact numbers by illegal means and continuously calling or messaging them. Once again, we request that you do not carry out actions that benefit yourself by causing harm to others and we request your cooperation such that the artists are not harmed further."
It's normal to want to interact with your idols, but please do your best to respect their personal space and time. Sasaeng behavior is so not on.
