Squid Game’s Oh Young Soo Wins Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globe Awards 2022

Congratulations to Oh Young Soo for this historic feat!

Oh Young Soo becomes the first Korean to be awarded individually at the recent Golden Globe Awards 2022!

The 79th Golden Globe Awards were held on January 9 in Beverly Hills, California. The Golden Globes is a prominent awards presentation in the United States that honors both television and film. It takes place in the run-up to the Academy Awards.

Oh Young Soo was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series for his work as Oh Il Nam in the blockbuster Netflix original series "Squid Game," along with Billy Crudup and Mark Duplass in "The Morning Show," Kieron Culkin in "Succession," and Brett Goldstein in "Ted Lasso."

"After hearing the news of the award, for the first time in my life, I told myself, 'I'm a decent guy,'" Oh Young Soo said on Netflix. "Now, it's no longer 'us within the world,' but 'the world within us.' While embracing the scent of our culture and embracing the love for my family deep in my heart, I give thanks to everyone in the world." I wish you all the best in your lives. "Thank you very much."

Lee Jung Jae was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama, and "Squid Game" was nominated for Best Television Series – Drama.

This year's Golden Globes were not broadcast on television or streamed online due to Hollywood's boycott of the awards show over allegations of corruption and a lack of diversity among members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which consists of foreign film journalists from around the world who choose the nominees and winners. The Golden Globes' official homepage and social media pages were used to announce the winners, as the ceremony was held without an audience.

Oh Young Soo, congrats on your historic victory!
