Lee Jung Jae recently remarked about "Squid Game's" ongoing success!

Lee Jung Jae appeared in a video interview on JTBC's "Newsroom" on January 13 to discuss the series' historic nominations for the 28th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards as well as the series' overall popularity.

"Squid Game" has been nominated for Outstanding Ensemble Performance in a Drama Series and Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series at the 28th SAG Awards, making it the first non-English language TV series to be nominated for an award. The Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series nomination goes to Jung Ho Yeon, while the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series nod goes to Lee Jung Jae.

"This is really an honor," Lee Jung Jae said. Given that these are the kinds of accolades that I've only ever heard about on the news, I'm incredibly grateful. Jung Ho Yeon, as well as the cast and crew of 'Squid Game,' were nominated. This has to be a wonderful event because even our action crew was nominated, so you could argue that all of our actors were nominated."

"I want to win the Best Ensemble Prize," Lee Jung Jae said when asked which award he most wants to win. The Best Ensemble Award is just as important as the Best Picture or Director Awards, so I'm hoping to win it."

Oh Young Soo, Lee Jung Jae's "Squid Game" co-star, became the first Korean actor to win Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes earlier this week. "He is a warm senior [actor] who genuinely respects his juniors and gives fantastic advise," Lee Jung Jae said of his co-star. On set, I could sense his depth and intelligence to the point where I was curious as to how he prepared for each scene. Like him, I aspire to be an actor. I wanted to follow in his footsteps as I saw him methodically rehearse each line and movement."

Lee Jung Jae also discussed the global impact of Korean entertainment in recent years. "The level of interest in Korean culture was extremely high, especially after the films 'Parasite' and 'Minari.'" I had the impression that people from other countries were getting a firsthand taste of Korean cuisine and culture, as well as seeing and appreciating Korean content such as K-pop, films, and dramas. People have a plethora of inquiries. I've been feeling a lot of pride as a South Korean citizen, and I'm really grateful."

Following the announcement of the SAG Award nominees, Lee Jung Jae took to his personal Instagram account to express his thanks.
