MAMAMOO's Agency RBW To Acquire DSP Media

RBW mentioned about wanting to turn DSP Media into a subsidiary.

DSP Media is on the verge of becoming an RBW subsidiary.

"This is a move we made in order to expand our business," RBW explained on January 26 after confirming that they had bought a controlling position in DSP Media.

The transfer of DSP Media CEO Choi Mi Kyung's 39.13 percent share in the company to RBW will take place on March 31 for 9.03 billion won (roughly $7.5 million).

"We want to buy a stake of over 51 percent in DSP Media and turn [the label] into a subsidiary," RBW continued. We will soon be signing an SPA [stock purchase agreement] with DSP Media’s largest shareholder.”

APRIL, KARD, MIRAE, and Heo Young Ji are currently signed to DSP Media, which is recognized for producing legendary K-pop acts such as SECHSKIES, Fin.K.L, KARA, and Click-B. Meanwhile, RBW is home to MAMAMOO, ONEUS, ONEWE, and PURPLEKISS, among others. Last April, the firm also bought WM Entertainment, which is home to Oh My Girl, B1A4, and ONF.

"Through this acquisition, we will now be able to account for both scale and speed as we prepare to establish new businesses connected to the metaverse, such as NFTs [non-fungible tokens] employing music IP [intellectual property]," said RBW CEO Kim Jin Woo, who will also take over as CEO of DSP Media. This will be a huge opportunity for DSP Media, which has been around for over 30 years, as well as RBW's next-generation branding."
