Former LUNAFLY member Han Seung Yoon, better known as contestant #17 on JTBC's 'Sing Again' season 1, discussed his thoughts on making a solo debut nearly a decade after his first.
Han Seung Yoon conducted an online showcase on February 15 to celebrate the release of his first mini album, 'Lovender.' Han Seung Yoon makes his solo debut around a year after his performance on 'Sing Again,' when he first gained acclaim for his attractive graphics. Han Seung Yoon went on to sing OSTs for several dramas after his appearance on the singing competition show, and then returned to promotions.
Now, Han Seung Yoon will launch his solo career with the release of his first solo mini album "Lovender" on February 15 at 6 p.m. KST. First, Han Seung Yoon commented on his title track "Lovender," saying, "It means the end of love. It's a song which contains the message that if my love with you ends, then there will be no love like this again in my life. 'Lovender' was chosen as the title track after taking into consideration reviews and critiques from many different people. But as soon as I heard the demo version of 'Lovender', when it didn't even have any lyrics, it spoke to my heart. It was a sound that I have never attempted before, but a sound that I would have liked to perform with my band. I was hooked by its grandiose sound."
Han Seung Yoon also revealed what he's been up to since the release of 'Sing Again.' "After the show, I felt that I needed time to hone myself before I greeted the public again, so I took pilates lessons and also worked on a lot of music." He also added on, "'Sing Again' was a program that received a lot of attention, and I think because it was a show that families watched at home, I was recognized by people of various generations after the show aired. I would go to a restaurant to eat, and they would recognize me and give me extra food as service... On 'Sing Again', I made headlines as a singer with good visuals. When I was younger, I was disappointed that people focussed more on my looks and did not listen to my music. But now that I am older, I am just thankful to even hear people compliment me for my looks. I hope to be remembered as an artist who is handsome, and who can also sing well."
"Just the title of 'Sing Again' in itself carried so much meaning for me," Han Seung Yoon concluded, "A program that allowed me to sing again, it would not be an exaggeration for me to say that it allowed me to live again. I am that grateful for the program, I cannot depict my gratitude in words."
