TREASURE Aims to Get Their First Music Show Win With "Jikjin"

YG has invested a half-billion won for the music video production alone.

Treasure, a boy band from South Korea, is hoping to win their first music competition with their new song "Jikjin."

The twelve-member group had a press conference on Tuesday ahead of the release of their latest EP "The Second Step: Chapter One," in which they addressed the EP's lead track "Jikjin" and other topics.

During the previous year, the lads focused their efforts on preparing for the start of their second adventure in their careers. The band's debut studio album, "The Initial Step: Treasure Effect," was released in January 2021, and it marked the conclusion of the group's first run of singles releases.

Our new adventure begins with this record, which serves as our first step forward. "If the 'First Step' series signaled the beginning of Treasure, the new album will demonstrate what we are capable of," Jihoon stated during the ceremony on Tuesday.

The title track of the new album, "Jikjin," is a song that depicts the color and direction of Treasure's next route. "Jikjin" is a Korean word that means "move straight." "Jikjin" is a hip-hop track with speed and force that has never been heard before from the group, according to the lads, and it has a sound that is loyal to the musical identity of their label, YG Entertainment.

"To put it another way, it's 'YG.'" "It's 'This is Treasure,'" Choi Hyunsuk, a co-leader of the group, explained.

"When we first heard it, back in October, we were unanimous in our belief that this was the song for us. "We couldn't think of anything else to use as a moniker," Hyunsuk said, while the other leader Jihoon stated, "We felt like we had discovered the perfect garments for us."

The song begins with a barrage of unrelenting speed and intensity as the voice and track switch to the rhythm, before taking a sharp turn at the chorus with a simple yet catchy hook that draws the listener in even further.

This time, YG went the extra mile to ensure that the rookies' breakthrough came as a result of an investment of a huge 500 million won ($417,470) into the music video production, a sum that the label claimed is generally reserved for established high-profile singers such as Blackpink.

In the hit song video, the lads race at high speeds in super automobiles — not just one, but numerous, as Mashiho emphasizes — and they win.

Even though Asahi did not have a license, she enjoyed herself by just sitting in the car. Yoshi, who did not have a license, said she attempted to pretend like she was driving by gazing in the mirror and gripping the handle in various angles.

The members emphasized that another aspect of the music video to pay attention to is the perfectly coordinated group performance, which is another thing to watch.

"Whereas our previous group dances had been more focused on power, the members of 'Jikjin' were able to add their own touches to the fundamental routines," Doyoung noted. "If our previous group dances had been more focused on power," Doyoung continued.

"However, we were able to maintain flawless uniformity," Yoshi continued. Consider the following scene: all 12 of us stand in a single line. We came to agreements on not only when we should move, but also on the tiny details of our arms and legs, as well as on how far we should leap.

"The Second Step: Chapter One," an album that showcases their distinct hues, was made possible by the members themselves, who contributed to it in large part.

"Jikjin," as well as numerous other songs on the EP, were written in part by the group's rapper members, Hyunsuk, Yoshi, and Haruto, while Hyunsuk also contributed to the song "BFF (Best Friends Forever)," which was released as part of the OST for the group's web drama series, "The Mysterious Class."

"It was an honor to learn that the song will be featured in the show. My involvement in further works will continue, and I believe that we will be launching our songs in the near future," Hyunsuk stated.

Bang Yedam was involved in not only the composition and songwriting of the B-side tune "Darari," but also the voice training of his bandmates for the song, demonstrating his ability to go even farther in his musical career.

According to Yedam, "I attempted to bring out the best in each member," and "everything turned out just way I wanted it because the members followed my directions properly," he said, adding that Doyoung was one of the members that made a significant improvement throughout the recording process.

Jihoon awarded "The Second Step: Chapter One" a perfect score of 98 out of 100 for being an album that was jam-packed with the colors and talents of the twelve members.

"I removed the two because we need to continue to improve and expand in the future. Treasure will continue to make progress toward reaching its full potential," Jihoon stated.

The band was formed through the YG audition TV program "YG Treasure Box," which aired in 2018-2019, and made their debut in August 2020 with the album "The First Step: Chapter One," which was led by the single "Boy." The band's main track is "Boy."

They have released three singles and a studio album since then, and they claim to have grown in both mental and physical maturity as a result of their experiences.

"If we had showed a boyish freshness on our previous albums, we've shown a more mature side on this one. As I listened to our recordings again and again, I saw that our voices have changed and gotten more mature. According to Hyunsuk, "I believe that we are maturing in tandem with the advancement of our thoughts."

Treasure's massive homecoming has sparked a flurry of excitement among fans across the world, with pre-order sales for the album exceeding 600,000 units in just eight days, setting a new record for debut artists.

"We were taken aback because it had been a long time since we had been. We knew that a large number of people had been looking forward to our return. We've worked really hard to live up to the expectations and faith placed in us by the public," Jihoon said of the number, which includes record sales as well as public expectations and trust in Treasure.

With "Jikjin," the group aspire to earn their first win on a local television music competition show.

"We'd fantasized about taking first place in the past, and the leaders had even planned a speech, but we came up short on that particular day and settled for second." "We'll put in the effort to see that this goal becomes a reality," Yedam stated, while Yoshi added, "We want to share the excitement of victory with the Treasure Makers!"

The boys also revealed that they are hard at work rehearsing for their first ever concert, which will take place on April 9-10 at Olympic Hall in southern Seoul.

"Our days are filled with pleasant thoughts of the concert," said the couple. All of the members are actively participating, and we're working hard to come up with the greatest strategy possible. "Not only have we planned performances of 'Jikjin,' but we've also prepared performances of the B-side music," Hyunsuk explained.

The boys, who made their debut during the epidemic era, only played live in front of fans once last year, on YG's Private Stage, and they want to get more opportunities this year as well.

"Our interaction with supporters at the Private Stage was the highlight of the year 2021," said the team. The sensation will be re-experienced in April," Mashiho remarked, while Asahi stated, "We aim to stage a global tour this year and meet people all over the world."
