BTOB Expects More Fans to Greet Them After Four-Year Hiatus

For BTOB, they want to see themselves more on the music charts.

In preparation for the arrival of spring and the blooming of flowers, boy band BTOB returns to the stage after a four-year break. Once all six bandmates have completed their necessary military duty, they have returned with their third studio album, "Be Together," which was released on Monday evening.

The record, according to Eun-Kwang, is "an album that sets out what it means to be "together" and defines the concept of "togetherness," according to a press conference held online on Monday.

"BTOB is a band that wishes to stay in touch with its followers and music listeners by releasing new melodies and songs. And, as the album's title says, it's like being in the same room with them," the band's leader explained.

This is the first time the bandmates have been together for the first time since they released their final album as a six-piece band, "Hour Moment," in 2018.

Min-hyuk stated that the album is a reflection of the 10-year chronology that BTOB has shared with its fans in the past. Afterward, he said that it was all about reliving the experiences and memories he had shared with them over the previous decade and that he wanted to continue to go down the same path with them indefinitely. The rapper also stated his hopes that his message will resonate with fans and music listeners, as he wants to communicate with them.

Producer Hyun-sik identified himself as a lyricist and composer in the music industry, despite the fact that he is a self-made idol in the industry. Not only did the performer write the title track, "The Song," but he also penned seven distinct sidetracks, including "Intro," "Be Together," "My Way," "Interlude: Re," "Lonely," "Dance With Me," and "Outro: Encore," in addition to the title track.

BTOB's Hyun-sik hailed the title track as a "tuneful song that brings together the varied voices of the group." According to him, "Beautiful Pain" unites the feelings of their previous ballad songs such as "Missing You," "Only One For Me," and "Only One For Me."

When asked about the title track, Hyun-Sik said that the term "song" was the first thing that sprang to mind when he thought about BTOB. "I had the idea of composing the lyrics by starting with the phrase song, and because singing is something we are most sure about, I chose to use the title 'The Song' to emphasize that we will continue to sing."

Hyun-Sik stated that "Lonely" is one of the songs he has created that has a particular place in his heart among the others. "It's a song that I composed a long time ago, but the words of the song came to me while I was serving in the military." "I was feeling quite lonely at the moment, so I had to include the emotions I was experiencing at the time," he continued.

Hyun-Sik also stated that BTOB took a risk this time since the two bandmates were in charge of the whole album's production, which was also the first time they had done so before.

"It was a hardship to put together an album on our own. "It was challenging, but on the other side, it indicates that I've put in that much effort and time, and I'm pleased with the product," he said, explaining his reasoning.

Min-hyuk also contributed to five more sidetracks, which include "Whiskey" and "Thank You," giving the 13-song package a wide range of musical styles. During a discussion of the songs Min-hyuk composed, Eun-Kwang stated that his favorite tune on the album is "Thank You," which was written by Min-hyuk. "It's a song that communicates gratitude, and in keeping with the concept of the song, the music expresses how grateful I am for everything."

As part of their 10th-anniversary celebration, which will take place on March 22, BTOB will be holding a performance the following month. The band also celebrated the end of the year and the beginning of the new year with fans by hosting an offline fan gathering dubbed "Welcome to BTOB's Home" in December.

When asked about the band's next performance, Min-hyuk responded by characterizing it as "an event where we could all sing together." It was Sung-Jae who added his two cents, stating that it would be the group's "all-time" finest performance.

Speaking about performing on stage after his discharge, Sung-Jae said that he had been concerned about whether he had changed during his military service, but that he was confident in his ability to stay the same person he had been before enlisting because of the support of his fans. It was a long haul, he said, but he was able to get through it due to the support of the fans, especially because they were the ones who made the band's third studio album possible. "I miss them so much," he said of the band's followers.

After being reunited with Hyun-Sik and Sung-Jae, Eun-Kwang stated that he finally felt like a member of the family. "I used to sell myself as BTOB 4U when the two of them were in the military, but there was something missing," he said.

While Hyun-Sik and Sung-Jae were away serving in the military, the other four members of the group — Chang-sub, Min-hyuk, Eun-Kwang, and Peniel — continued to promote themselves by appearing in Mnet's competition show "Kingdom: Legendary War," which aired last year. It was in 2020 that they made their debut as BTOB 4U, which is the group's second formal sub-unit to be founded under its umbrella.

During the 2018 military recruitment drive, Eun-Kwang became the first of the group's seven members to join, and Changsub revealed that he will be serving as a member of the ROK Army's Music Corps. Minhyuk is the third member of the band to enroll as a conscripted police officer in the year 2019. Hyun-Sik and Sung-Jae began their military duty in May 2020, whereas Peniel, who is a citizen of the United States, was exempt from mandatory military service because of his citizenship.

Ahead of the conclusion of the event, Eun-Kwang stated the hope of being more than satisfied if their followers and music listeners enjoyed their songs and album in the same way that they do.

"It's important to do well on the charts and sell a lot of records, but I wanted to tell a tale to my fans and listeners, and I hope to continue to create memories with them," he added.

The 13-track bundle was made available to the public at 6 p.m. on Monday.
