Yoo Jae-Suk's Chinese Fanbase Disbands

This is because of his remarks against the Chinese speed skater during the Beijing Olympics.

As a result of statements made on the most recent episode of MBC's successful variety show "Hangout with Yoo," top comedian Yoo Jae-suk is receiving negative feedback in China.

Yuna Yoo's Chinese fan club, Yooniverse, declared on Monday evening that the organization has chosen to split and cease operations altogether.

According to a statement on the fan club's official Weibo account, the fan club intends to cease operations due to "differences in directions" between Yoo and the supporters. There were no explanations given for the sudden disbandment.

Yoo, a 49-year-old comedian who is perhaps one of the most recognized television personalities in Korean broadcasting, gave viewers a glimpse into his daily life in an episode of "Hangout with Yoo" broadcast on February 19.

Even while the other hosts were talking about the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, Yoo did not hide his feelings and emotions about an alleged biased decision in a short track event, in which Korean skater Hwang Dae-Heon was disqualified for late passing and making contact with other players. Yoo was not alone in his feelings and emotions about the alleged biased decision. Hwang was shoved by a Chinese competitor during the race, however, the athlete did not get a penalty and advanced to the next round without being punished.

Many Korean celebrities, including Yoo, who voiced support for Korean national athletes and their thoughts about the Beijing Olympics have been harassed by Chinese social media users who have assaulted their social media accounts with a barrage of defamatory remarks. Other well-known people who have been attacked include RM of the K-pop boy band BTS and rapper Paloalto, to name just a few examples.
