On the heels of his tvN drama "Ghost Doctor," Kim Bum sat down for an interview with Star News.

"Ghost Doctor" is a fantasy medical drama about two doctors who have histories, skills, and attitudes that could not be more dissimilar, yet who end up combining bodies and souls. Rain played Cha Young Min, a brilliant thoracic surgeon, while Kim Bum played Go Seung Tak, a silver-spoon resident. Uee portrayed Jang Se Jin, a neurosurgeon, while Apink's Son Naeun portrayed Oh Soo Jung, an emergency room intern.

"If we were to talk about it in terms of MBTI types, Seung Tak is an E type [extrovert] and I'm an I type [introvert]," Kim Bum stated when asked about the parallels between himself and Go Seung Tak. This is the most significant distinction between us. When I was younger, I believe I matured swiftly. That's something I believe we have in common."

"I'm not the sort that likes stunt actors to stand in for me," he remarked of acting in a medical drama, "but when I saw the operation scene, I thought, 'There's no way I can replicate that.' That was the first time I'd felt like that." I went to real research hospitals, spoke with specialists, and practiced. Because it's not something you can learn in two months, we drew inspiration from real-life medical practitioners. Because of the COVID-19 scenario, I was unable to easily access hospitals for research."

In the drama, Go Seung Tak is sometimes possessed by Cha Young Min's ghost, who is in a coma. As a result, Kim Bum had to study Rain's demeanor and speech patterns. "I would observe him even when we weren't filming," he remarked. "I took careful note of how he moves, how he stands, and what motions he uses when he speaks. Seung Tak, for example, is hunkered in when we're wearing the white coat because he doesn't want to make contact. When he's Cha Young Min, on the other hand, he keeps his hands in his pockets. He walks with self-assurance at all times."

"Rain is a senior who communicates well, so it was fun to work with him," he stated. The outward half of me is me, and I'm playing his character in my body, but it's not like I'm playing two roles at once. It seemed as if we were both playing the same part. It was a persona that we co-created, and the process was a lot of fun. We were always laughing together on set, and it was a lot of joy acting together."

"It was fun," he remarked of his character's brief affair with Son Naeun's character. Naeun, my son, has the same MBTI type as I do. We're both INTJ personalities. We both have a lot of thoughts but don't frequently express them out loud, so that was something we could relate to. I made her feel at ease, but I'm not sure if she felt at ease with me. I was unhappy that we were unable to bring our characters' relationship to a conclusion in the play. They're both shy, so they waited until the very end to speak."
