Lee Young-Ae Donates Money for Ukraine

The Ukrainian ambassador to South Korea has expressed his thanks on Twitter.

Recently, actress Lee Young Ae made a substantial gift to Ukraine in support of the country!

On March 1, Ukraine's ambassador to the United States, Dmytro Ponomarenko, took to Twitter to post a letter from the actress, as well as a cheque for one hundred million won (about $83,331). The letter and the substantial financial gift from Korean actress Lee Young Ae in favor of Ukraine and the need for an immediate stop to the war, he said, "have left us feeling extremely enthusiastic and affected." The money will be used to meet the needs of those who have been victimized by Russian aggression."

The following is the complete text of Lee Young Ae's letter:

Greetings, fellow Ukrainians.

My name is Lee Young Ae, and I am a Korean actress who currently resides in the country. Due to the fact that I come from a family of soldiers who has lived through war, I understand the horrors of war more profoundly than anybody else.

I truly hope that the conflict will be brought to an end and that peace will be restored in Ukraine as soon as possible, and I pray for the well-being and safety of all Ukrainian people and residents.

My heart goes out to all Ukrainians who cherish freedom and peace. I pray you never lose hope or bravery.

To the people of Ukraine, I would want to express my gratitude as a citizen of independent Korea who cherishes peace by sending them a little but lovely heart. May God continue to bless you.
