President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol has appealed to the leaders of neighboring Japan and China to continue to improve their bilateral ties. The presidents reached an agreement on the need to deepen ties with South Korea.

He held a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to South Korea, Xing Haiming, in Seoul on Friday morning, during which he expressed his confidence in the future development of ties between Korea and China.

In an interview with Xing, Yoon stated that "China is Korea's greatest trading partner" and that "we are China's third-largest commercial partner." "The 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and China will be celebrated this year. The citizens of both nations have benefited greatly from the establishment of diplomatic relations. It also contributed to the development of the economy."

Korea is "an inseparable neighbor," according to Ambassador Xing, who said that the country is now the third-largest trading partner but "may become the second-largest trading partner within the next year."

Yoon also received congratulations greeting from Chinese President Xi Jinping, which was delivered by Xing.

Beijing's President Xi Jinping stated in a statement that China and the two countries are "close neighbors and significant cooperation partners." "Diplomatic ties have resulted from intangible advantages for the people of both nations and have made a beneficial contribution to the promotion of international peace, security, prosperity, and development," says the ambassador.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, which is significant in terms of bilateral relations, according to him. According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, "China is eager to improve diplomatic ties with South Korea and deepen friendly cooperation in order to support the stable and long-term growth of strategic cooperation partners."

Yoon also spoke on the phone with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida for 15 minutes on Friday at 10:30 a.m., according to Yoon.

According to Japanese media source NHK, Prime Minister Kishida told Yoon that "Korea and Japan are significant neighboring countries." "Deep and solid Korea-Japan relations are crucial in safeguarding the rules-based international order and ensuring the peace, stability, and prosperity of both the region and the globe."

Yoon was approached by Kishida, who urged that they "cooperate together" to enhance relations between Korea and Japan.

Responding to the People Power Party's call, Yoon expressed his views as follows: "As Korea and Japan have many future tasks to collaborate on in the future, such as security and economic prosperity in Northeast Asia, let's work together to promote friendship and cooperation between the two countries," the People Power Party reported.

The president-elect emphasized the need of addressing outstanding issues between the two nations in a reasonable and mutually beneficial manner, in accordance with their shared interests. He stated that he expects South Korea, the United States, and Japan will continue to improve their collaboration on problems relating to the Korean Peninsula in the future.
