Kim Dong-Wook Makes Small Screen Comeback with New Tving Drama

The animation where the drama was inspired from won awards from Cannes.

Kim Dong-wook, a well-known Korean actor, will make his streaming platform debut on March 18 with the upcoming series "The King of Pigs" from Tving.

His character, Hwang Kyung-min, was tormented in school in the past and is currently being probed by authorities for his position as the lead suspect in a serial murder case. Kim, 38, plays the part of Hwang Kyung-min.

Among the cast members is actor Kim Sung-kyu, who appears as investigator Jung Jong-suk, who is on a mission to uncover the truth behind the murders.

"The King of Pigs," an adaptation of the 90-minute cartoon of the same name directed by "Hellbound" director Yeon Sang-ho, is a colorful drama that unfolds in a modern civilization that has been moulded by violent conflict.

Despite the fact that the two protagonists initially met in middle school, their relationship deteriorated after Hwang Kyung-min was tormented at his former school.

At the 2011 Busan International Film Festival, the original animation took home three honors, including the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema Award, the Movie Collage Award, and the Directors Award. It was also the first Korean animated film to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival, which took place in 2012.

According to Tving, a new character, Kang Jin-ah, a detective played by renowned actor Chae Jung-ahn, would be introduced to the original animation series in order to lend its own flavor to the original animation.

Starting on March 18, the 12-episode series will be available exclusively on Tving.
