The group BTS topped the US Billboard's main single chart 'Hot 100' for a whopping 9 weeks in a row.
Billboard announced on the 26th that BTS had ranked first on the 'Hot 100' chart (as of July 31) with the digital single 'Butter' released in May.
'Butter' maintained the top of the 'Hot 100' for 7 weeks in a row, starting with the chart on June 5. Last week (July 24), 'Permission to Dance' took first place on the chart, but returned to the top after a week. BTS took first place for the 8th time in its career.
Citing MRC data, Billboard said, "'Butter' recorded 30.7 million radio listeners in the weekly count through July 22. This is a 2% increase over the previous week's count.”
According to Billboard, BTS is the first artist who achieved the number one spot on the 'Hot 100' with his own song, and then returned to the top without giving up the first place to another artist.
On the other hand, on the 'Digital Song Sales' chart, 'Butter' again topped the chart, and 'Permission to Dance', which had ranked first in the previous week, was ranked second.
