Netflix Breakaway Stars Lee Yoo-mi, Park Ju-Hyun to Come Back in Sports Dramas

They became popularly known for their hit Netflix shows before getting these roles.

Park Ju-hyun and Lee Yoo-mi, who earned a name for themselves in Netflix's Korean original series, are returning to the small screen as athletes in the upcoming Netflix series "The Athletic."

Park, 27, who gained international attention with her portrayal of Bae Gyu-ri, a kleptomaniac high school student in "Extracurricular" (2020), is set to portray badminton player Park Tae-yang in the next KBS sports drama "Love All Play." Park was born in Seoul and raised in Seoul.

After three years away from the badminton court, the 16-part sports romance revolves around a renowned badminton player, who was nicknamed "queen of smash shot" before her retirement three years ago, returning to the court. Throughout the series, she tells the narrative of how she overcame a variety of obstacles to become a genuine athlete.

Meanwhile, it was announced earlier this month that Lee, 27, who has been in films like as "Squid Game" and "All of Us Are Dead," would be making her television debut as the female lead in the upcoming tvN series "Mental Coach Jegal Gil."

Lee, in the part of former world short track medallist Cha Ga-eul, tells the narrative of an athlete who was once considered a sporting prodigy but is now struggling to recover from a long period of adversity.

"Love All Play" will premiere on KBS on April 20 at 9:50 p.m., and "Mental Coach Jegal Gil" will appear on the cable channel tvN in the second half of this year, according to the network.
