BTS’s Jeon Jungkook has more than one reason to celebrate. Aside from the fact that his 25th birthday is fast approaching, his solo track “Begin” hit No. 1 on the Billboard World Digital Single Sales chart.
“Begin” originally appeared on BTS’s 2016 album Wings. Composed by the group’s leader RM, David Quinones, and Tony Esterly, it told Jungkook’s story of moving to Seoul at a young age to become an idol and expresses his gratitude towards the other members for taking care of him during that time.
When ARMY got wind of Jungkook’s latest achievement, they expressed their happiness all over SNS. The hashtags “#BeginNo1OnBillboard,” and “ProudOfJungkook” trended worldwide in a matter of minutes, as did the phrase “CONGRATULATIONS JUNGKOOK.”
Jungkook stans are no stranger to doing grand gestures for the Golden Maknae, as proven by the many projects they’re going to launch to mark his upcoming birthday.
The group Golden JUNGKOOK Union announced on Twitter that it plans to send a bus shelter birthday ad at the bus stop at the northern end of the Han River Bridge (which is in front of the new HYBE building). There will also be a birthday ad for Jungkook at Exit 1 of Apgujeong Station in Seoul.
The fan account JK SUPPORT JAPAN will also send a birthday ad at the Seomyeon Station in the Busan subway. For their part, the fan account JK_Limerence announced that it will support Jungkook’s DID birthay ad at Sinyongsan Station, Seoul subway line 4. One more fan account named JK_ARIRANG had street lamp banners put up in front of the new HYBE building.
The Filipino fan account Golden Alliance PH’s project is by far one of the most beautiful and impressive ones. In cooperation with A Liter of Light (an international grassroots movement that uses inexpensive and readily available materials to provide high quality solar lighting to people without access to electricity), they created a solar artwork featuring Jungkook that can be seen from the sky.
Solar artwork is a new art form that integratges the technology used in the collection and use of solar power with human creativity. Jungkook is the first artist in the world to be featured in this art form. The Golden Alliance PH team also hired a team of drones to film their artwork from the sky.
