The Stolen Futures of Comfort Women

An original painting done by Eileen Lee.

A Stolen Future is an original painting done by Eileen Lee to illustrate a teenage girl whose bright future was stolen by those under the rising sun flag. The rising sun flag is a symbol for those who followed the word of imperialist Japan from 1932 to 1945. During the second world war, Japan had tried to take over the lands of Korea and began to abduct Korean teenage girls from the streets to force them into roles of sexual conduct and pleasure for those in the Japanese army. These were teenage girls who were destined for happy and bright futures yet, in the blink of an eye, had these futures ripped from them as they were forced to be subject to intense acts of sexual assault and harrassment. We Koreans deserve to have an apology and statement from the Japenese government about their horrid actions of the past.
