EVERGLOW shifts gears on new digital single for UNICEF Korea

"Promise" was recorded specially for children in need.

Since they debuted in 2019, EVERGLOW has specialized in fierce, hard-hitting title tracks that fit their girl crush concept. As such, their new digital single “Promise”—which they recorded for the UNICEF campaign of the same name—comes across as a refreshing and welcome change of pace for the Yuehua Entertainment girl group.

According to UNICEF Korea, they started the Promise campaign in a bid to communicate with the younger generation about the crises their peers around the world are experiencing.

“Promise” is a song about the hopes and dreams of children who long for a better, more peaceful world. In line with its message, the EVERGLOW members—Aisha, E:U, Mia, Onda, Sihyeon, and Yiren—incorporated the word “promise” in sign language into their choreography. The song itself has a lot of bright energy that will make listeners smile while thinking of ways they can help make this world a better place for children.

EVERGLOW’s new single has “an addictive sound and a message of hope that keeps ringing in your ears once you hear it.” It dropped on the 26th, at the same time that UNICEF Korea kick-started the Promise campaign dance challenge. Fans began filming themselves grooving to the song and posting their videos on SNS with relevant hashtags as EVERGLOW’s own dance video for “Promise” was released through UNICEF Korea’s official SNS accounts and YouTube channel.

In support of the campaign, Yuehua Entertainment pledged to donate an as-yet undetermined amount to aid UNICEF Korea in its efforts to help children from across the globe. For their part, the EVERGLOW members released a joint statement that said, “We’re happy to work with UNICEF. We hope many children will be made happier through this campaign.”

At this point in their career, EVERGLOW is ready to give back the love they’ve received from their fans. Their last comeback yielded excellent results—their third single album Last Melody yielded the hit title track “FIRST,” which earned them their second win on The Show. Its official music video also peaked at No. 1 on the YouTube Worldwide Daily Chart.

As if that wasn't impressive enough, three of EVERGLOW’s music videos have surpassed 100 million views: “Adios,” “DUN DUN,” and “La Di Da,” which was co-written by member E:U. It also served as the title track of their sophomore EP −77.82X−78.29.

The UNICEF Promise campaign dance challenge began on August 26 and will run until September 16.
