Autumn Blossoms in Cheongpyeong

With Seoksan in full bloom, Autumn is surely around the corner.

Flowers that indicate the arrival of Autumn has begun to bloom in a recreational forest in the town of Cheongpyeong a small town in Gapyeong County. 'Seoksan' (Lycoris Radiata) also known as the flower bowl (꽃무릇) grows at the foot of a mountain and is visible in the late summer or autumn, or often after heavy rainfall. These flowers which are characterized by their bright red thin petals which grow upside-down and dry backward are native to Korea, China, and Nepal.

 

An official at the Yangyang park office in Jeongpyeong-gun said that the flowering of pale pink flowers is blooming in groups amongst the dense trees of the forest house in the recreation area, indicating that autumn is approaching.

 

Jwagusan Recreational Forest is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Cheongpyeong, with many sites to see, such as the Samgi Reservoir perimeter road, birch forest road, maple tree road, wind sound road, meditation cloud bridge, rock garden, etc.
