MAMA 2021 Host Location and Date Announced

It is going to be held in Korea for the second consecutive year.

JTBC News reported on September 8 that the 2021 MAMA will be held in Korea again this year by taking everything into account, including the COVID-19 pandemic situation. According to media reports, the event will be held at CJ ENM's Contents World in Paju City, Gyeonggi Province. The venue is the size of 32 soccer fields, but although it has yet to fully open, the 2020 MAMA was also held there. Amid revelations, a source from CJ ENM confirmed that the 2021 MAMA will be held on December 11 at CJ ENM's Contents Studio.

Kim Hyun Soo, CJ ENM's director of music content, stated that the music industry, as well as civilization as a whole, is suffering as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It would be fantastic if the 2021 MAMA infuses new life into the music industry to take place in K-birthplace pop's of Korea, while also providing hope and courage to those who have lost hope through K-pop.

The 2020 MAMA was held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mnet responded to reports of the 2021 MAMA being hosted in Hong Kong in July, stating that the host site had yet to be determined.

Since 2010, MAMA has frequently been held in locations other than Korea. The ceremony was held in Hong Kong from 2012 to 2015, and in 2017 and 2018, it was held in three countries, including Hong Kong. Due to ongoing protests, the 2019 MAMA could not be held in Hong Kong.

MAMA will continue to consider the COVID-19 pandemic as well as regulatory changes in the time remaining until the event to determine the feasibility of holding the concert offline while placing the safety and health of fans, artists, and staffs as their top priority.

KWave Go will cover the 2021 MAMA for those looking for the most up-to-date information from one of KPop's most important awarding acts.
