Let ENHYPEN take you to another ‘dimension’

The long-awaited comeback of the seven-member group is just a sleep away.

ENHYPEN (Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki) will release their first full-length album, DIMENSION: DILEMMA, on October 12.

This comeback comes after about six months since the release of their second mini-album BORDER: CARNIVAL in April, and fans worldwide are watching. The titles of the album and its lead single (“Tamed-Dashed”) were revealed on Twitter after a teaser for the latter’s MV was published. So let’s take a look at what’s in store for ENGENEs in ENHYPEN’s upcoming comeback.

DIMENSION: DILEMMA starts the “DIMENSION” series, which tells the story of the boys’ different desires and dilemmas that they encountered after their debut.

ENHYPEN dropped concept photos, mood boards, and teaser videos for each of the album’s three versions: CHARYBDIS, SCYLLA, and ODYSSEUS. The group has tried a wide range of concepts before, but this comeback marks their first time to try a cool concept.

Neither the group nor its label has offered an explanation as to why they chose those names, but we at KWave would like to take a stab at it.

In Greek mythology, Charybdis and Scylla are monsters lurking in the waters traversed by the hero Odysseus. The phrase “to be between Charybdis and Scylla” is an idiom that means “to choose the lesser of two evils.” The idiom “on the horns of a dilemma” expresses a similar meaning. Now, do you see the connection?

Although those names sound kind of ominous, the teaser trailer for the title song “Tamed-Dashed” was the exact opposite. In it, the members can be seen having a great time playing rugby on a beach. They’re also shown horsing around with each other while playing in the ocean. The whole teaser exuded refreshing energy.

The HYBE Labels group, which includes producers Wonderkid and Bang Si-hyuk, aka hitman bang, have worked with ENHYPEN since their first album. According to an album preview, the boys dropped on October 6, they also contributed to this record. The quality of “Intro: Whiteout,” “Interlude: Question,” the title track “Tamed-Dashed,” and the B-side “Upper Side Dreamin” can’t be denied.

ENHYPEN’s music and visuals are stunning on their first full-length album, thanks to visual designer Kim Ye-young. She has styled numerous ads, music videos and worked with a lot of other companies. As a result, ENHYPEN has completed preparations for its comeback, and they’re sure to have a fresh new look when they return.

By reaching exceptional success with its previous “BORDER” series, ENHYPEN has established itself as a fourth-generation hot symbol. According to the Gaon Chart, BORDER: DAY ONE’ sold 318,528 copies upon release, setting a new record for single album sales in 2020. In Japan, ENHYPEN went to No. 1 on the Oricon charts after debuting at No. 18 on the US Billboard 200 Albums chart.

With a pre-order number of about 926,000 copies, DIMENSION: DILEMMA has shattered the group’s previous sales records, and anticipation is building to see how ENHYPEN’s first full-length album will do on the charts.

ENHYPEN will release their new album DIMENSION: DILEMMA tomorrow at 6:00 PM, and their comeback show of the same name will air on Mnet at 7:00 PM.
