Soloist Ha Sungwoon to leave his longtime label

His contract with Star Crew Entertainment expired last month.

Ha Sungwoon will be leaving his longtime label Star Crew Entertainment.

On November 2, the label announced that their exclusive contract with Sungwoon had run its course. As any K-Pop fan worth their salt knows, a rule set forth by South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission put a seven-year limit on all entertainment contracts.

In a statement, Star Crew Entertainment said, “First of all, we'd like to express our gratitude to the fans who cherish Ha Sung Woon and always show love and support for him. This is to inform you all that our exclusive contract with Ha Sungwoon, who's been with us since he debuted, ended on October 31, 2021.”

Sungwoon debuted with HOTSHOT in 2014, but only became a household name when he auditioned for Produce 101 Season 2. He became a member of the project group Wanna One and went on to enjoy global success as one of its main vocalists.

Despite announcing Sungwoon’s departure, the label will still release his upcoming album later this month.

As of this writing, it’s unclear what Sungwoon plans to do next. However, fans are hoping that he signs with KONNECT Entertainment, the agency established by former Wanna One center Kang Daniel.
