Squid Market Sales Rose Thanks To 'Squid Game'

Different products shown in the drama have also benefited in the promotional effect.

The Netflix drama series 'Squid' shattered records and created ripples all over the internet. According to Reed Hastings, the drama was watched for at least two minutes by 142 million paying subscribers in the first twenty-eight days following its debut.

What's more remarkable is that, as the drama's popularity grew, so did the popularity and sales of associated items.

Members of the play donned training clothing and masks. These goods became popular searches on the internet, and firms offering them are doing well as a result of the drama.

Another product that sold well following the drama's premiere was 'Squid,' which had nothing to do with the drama. The series' promotional effect has boosted squid sales.

As of October 20, the average price of seafood at Noryangjin Fish Market was 4,250 won per fish. In the three weeks after the broadcast of the drama, sales at Korea's Lotte Mart surged by 49 percent.

Another exciting development is that squid-flavored sweets are becoming more popular, just in time for Halloween.

This popularity is actually a positive thing since seafood, whether raw or steamed, is good for our health. The amino acid 'taurine,' found in squid, is useful in boosting liver function and reducing stroke and arrhythmia, as well as making the blood clear and clean. Squid has a basic nature in Oriental medicine and helps to strengthen the heart, liver, and kidneys by restoring energy and improving blood circulation.

But be careful not to take too much because it includes a lot of purine, which is bad for persons who have gout or have high uric levels.
