Fantagio Artists Lead New Drama About Old Folktales

Astro and Weki Meki members will participate in this drama.

The cast of the upcoming drama "Chung Chun Hyang Jeon" has been confirmed.

JWONDER Productions announced on November 4 that their new interactive, multi-ending drama, "Chung Chun Hyang Jeon," will premiere at the end of November.

Weki Meki's Sei will play Chung Chun Hyang, ASTRO's Rocky will play Lee Mong Ryong, Kim Do Kyeong will play Byeon Hak Do, Weki Meki's Elly will play Han Da Ni, and Kim Yong Suk will play Bang Ji Ahn.

"Chung Chun Hyang Jeon" is a contemporary retelling of Chunhyangjeon, or the Chunhyang Tale. Sung Chunhyang is a young woman who falls in love with Yi Mongryong, who must relocate to the capital and requests that Chunhyang wait for him till he returns. When a new government official named Byeon Hakdo enters into the hamlet, he attempts to compel Chunhyang to become his prostitute, but she refuses and is imprisoned as a consequence. Yi Mongryong reappears disguised as a secret royal investigator, and the pair has a happy ending.

"Chung Chun Hyang Jeon" will follow the narrative of Chun Hyang, a 24-year-old woman who works as a waitress at a guesthouse to pay off her college loans in 2021. She fell in love with Mong Ryong when she was 18 years old, but she didn't hear from him for six years after he relocated to Seoul. He reappears as a medical student, but a young entrepreneur called Byeon Hak Do upends the couple's plans.

Han Da Ni, Elly's character, is Hyang Dan, a supporter of the pair in the original story, while Bang Ji Ahn is Mong Ryong's servant. Han Da Ni is Chung Chun Hyang's best buddy in the remake, while Bang Ji Ahn is a video gamer and a strange friend of Chung Chun Hyang's.

Namwon, a city in North Jeolla Province, will be the setting for the remake. It is touted as a multi-ending interactive drama in which spectators may pick the path Chun Hyang should pursue in the plot.
