Samuel Finally Breaks Free of Brave Entertainment

The judge has sided with him, thus invalidating his existing contract with the agency.

Samuel has prevailed in his fight against Brave Entertainment over his exclusive contract.

On November 17, the Seoul Central District Court found in favor of the plaintiff, Samuel, and rejected Brave Entertainment's lawsuit for 1 billion won (roughly $846,380) in damages. "We affirm that the contract signed between the plaintiff and defendant on June 9, 2014 is not legal," the court concluded, "and we dismiss the defendant's motion for counteraction."

After the ruling, Samuel commented, “I couldn’t do anything during the three long years due to the legal conflict, and I am very happy to have won the lawsuit. I said the truth, and the truth was heard. I am grateful to my followers and acquaintances who have patiently waited for me, who have supported me, and who have sympathized with me. I'm going back to the drawing board to thank people who backed me with wonderful productions and great form."

"Thank you Garnet [Samuel's followers] for praying for me, believing in me, and waiting for me during this long wait," he said on Instagram. I can't put it into words... The skies were on my side. It's all because of you."

In 2015, Samuel made his debut as a member of the Brave Entertainment combo 1PUNCH. Two years later, he created a reputation for himself by appearing on Mnet's "Produce 101 Season 2" and has since promoted as a solo artist. Samuel filed a court lawsuit against Brave Entertainment in 2019 after failing to end his contract with the agency, describing the exact concerns that resulted in a breach of trust.
