The price of living in Eorzea isn't cheap. Between glams for your ERP venue and that goddamn house, you'll need some Gil to keep up with the costs of life in Final Fantasy XIV. Fortunately, there are some easy ways to make a steady income that can add up quickly and require little effort on your part.

Crafting

A dependable way to earn a lot of Gil is through crafting. If players craft gear for class quests and sell them on the market board, they can make a good amount of money. Alternatively, players can become a Gathering class and gather natural resources in Eorzea to sell. While this will not net as much money as crafting, it is easy to do and doesn't cost anything except time.

Another way to get a steady income is through Retainer Ventures. These are small side quests that reward players with experience and best way to earn gil ffxiv. Players can also sell the loot from these missions to other players on the market board. With new items coming out regularly, this is a surefire way to keep the Gil flowing in.

Gathering

In a game that is constantly evolving, the market board can be a volatile place. Items that are worth a million Gil today could be worth only two tomorrow. Fortunately, there are ways to make reliable Gil that don’t rely on the market board.

One of these is gathering. Many players will turn to this method when new gear or other items are introduced into the game. Hard-to-find materials will sell for a premium, and those who are the first to gather them can reap the rewards. Another great way to earn a steady flow of Gil is through retainers. As your retainers complete adventures, you’ll be rewarded with experience and gil. The more adventures they take, the higher their level and the better the rewards become.

Treasure Hunting

As mentioned above, the best way to make Gil in FFXIV is by being a crafter or gatherer (Miner, Botanist, Fisher, Alchemist). However, if you are unable to do these jobs, then there are a few other methods that can help.

The first method involves Treasure Maps. These are dungeons that reward players with a high amount of Gil, as well as Grand Company Seals which can be exchanged for other items.

Another method involves selling items on the Market Board. This can be a bit of a gamble, as you have to know how much to sell the items for. If you sell too low, then other players will undercut you, cutting into your profits. Also, there are only so many buyers on any given data center.

Retainer Ventures

Retainers can be used for a multitude of tasks, but most players use them as storage and market board sellers. They can also be sent on ventures to collect various materials for crafting purposes or to earn gil by selling the spoils.

Each assignment of a retainer on a venture costs a special currency called a Venture Token, which can be earned from Beast Tribe dailies and battle leves or purchased from Grand Company quartermasters in each city. The class of your retainer and their gear will affect the type of loot they procure on a venture; increasing average item level or gathering rating increases the chance that a retainer will bring back rarer items.

To maximize the profit of a retainer on a venture, try to send them out for Quick Exploration ventures, which usually turn around items worth thousands and occasionally millions. Also make sure to check the market board prices often to see how much other players are selling certain materials for, as this can change the amount of gil you receive.

Beast Tribe Quests

Whether you are an item crafter (the Disciples of the Hand) or a gatherer (the Disciples of the Land), gathering is one of the best ways to make gil in FFXIV. However, you should understand that this activity comes with an opportunity cost. Time spent gathering is time that could be better spent crafting, undercutting, raiding or just having fun.

Beast Tribe Quests are daily quests that can earn players a variety of rewards such as Allagan Tomestones, Ventures and Reputation points. As players increase their reputation with a tribe they can unlock a vendor that sells unique mounts, minions and furnishings. Players also earn a variety of experience and gil for completing these quests. However, the initial rewards aren’t always worth the effort.
