They discussed their historic win at the American Music Awards, their Grammy nomination, their long-awaited offline concert that is currently taking place in Los Angeles, and much more.
In advance of the group's "PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LA" concert, which will take place on its second night at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, the group held a global press conference.
BTS's first offline concert in approximately two years, "PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LA," will take place in Los Angeles. V expressed his delight at being able to interact with their fans in person for the first time. The opportunity to perform in person for the first time in two years is a dream come true for me. The past two years have been very sad and difficult for us because we haven't been able to do the things that we used to take for granted. However, we now have our concert, which I have been looking forward to and preparing for a long time. It was with great anticipation that I arrived here, and I hope to infuse positive energy into the ARMY."
Suga admitted that the first night of the concert had felt like a dream and that he had been extremely nervous before the performance. "We made our debut eight years ago, and we made our debut in the United States four years ago, and honestly, I believe there have always been incidents like this since then." He continued. Our accomplishments were never easy to come by. "When I reflected on it during the two years that we were unable to perform, I realized that we always overcome obstacles through perseverance, and the same is true for this concert."
The singer J-Hope expressed her gratitude by saying, "We've returned to the United States following the United Nations General Assembly in September, and while it makes me feel a little shy to represent an entire generation and voice our thoughts, I also feel honored."
For the members, the first day of the concert was a nerve-wracking experience because it had been a very long time since they had performed in front of a crowd. Jin revealed that the members had discussed how they might cry if they see the audience during their opening song, "ON," when they perform it. "We were extremely nervous because it was the first time we had performed in front of an audience in two years, and we had prepared extensively in case we made a mistake. "However, despite the fact that we said everything, no one cried," Jin revealed with a laugh.
When asked about his feelings after the first day of the concert, Jimin admitted that he had some regrets about not being able to fully enjoy himself. 'I couldn't fully enjoy it because I was preoccupied with deciding what kind of face to make, what gestures to make, and what words to use to convey my emotions,' I say. "I feel some regret for not being able to fully enjoy it." As a result, I'm going to try to take it easy and enjoy myself."
BTS arrived in the United States on November 17 and has been participating in a variety of activities in Los Angeles since then. A notable one of these was the 2021 American Music Awards, where they made history by becoming the first Asian act to win Artist of the Year, the evening's highest honor.
RM spoke about the award during a press conference after the ceremony. As an artist, it's extremely meaningful to receive recognition such as the Artist of the Year award at the American Music Awards and to be nominated for a Grammy Award. As artists who began their careers in Korea, I believe there are some intangible barriers to overcome, such as language barriers and genre limitations. However, whenever we encountered these obstacles, we overcame them by focusing on what we do best, which is our performances and songs."
Suga expressed his excitement about their song "Butter" being nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2022 Grammy Awards, saying, "It's still a little surreal." My family and I have been avid viewers of the Grammy Awards since I was a child, so it gives me great pleasure to see that we are still nominated. Of course, being nominated for a Grammy is a difficult feat, but the fact that there is a hurdle to clear, something to strive for, is something for which I am grateful, and I hope that we are successful."
RM acknowledged, with humility, that they owed their success as a record-breaking group to the Armed Forces of the United States (ARMY). "Of a total of 100 percent, 50 percent of the success can be attributed to ARMY, 35 percent can be attributed to the members, with each member accounting for 5 percent, and the remaining 25 percent can be attributed to HYBE and Big Hit Music." If you think of it as a trophy, we only have a small portion of the trophy to show for it. If I think of it as a collective success achieved by many people, I will unavoidably remain humble, which is an important mindset to have while continuing to live as myself."
"I try not to set expectations for myself in terms of success," J-Hope stated. By setting a standard for myself, I find myself becoming more exhausted both mentally and physically as I strive to achieve that standard. In this case, rather than setting a standard, I believe that the fruits of my labor will manifest themselves if I focus on what I do best and strive to be content with my life and current circumstances. As a result, I try not to get too caught up in those details. That's how I maintain my composure and continue to build myself."
Finally, BTS talked about their future plans for the group. "I hope that after this concert, we will be able to have more concerts with many more ARMY, and there are also plans to have a concert in Korea," Jin expressed his hopes. As Jungkook put it, "If at all possible, since we haven't been able to see people for the past two years, I'd like to go to different places and sing for people, but this is an unavoidable situation that we must accept." "We'll continue to do everything we can to accommodate those who come to see us."
The four-show series "BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LA" will take place on November 27 and 28, as well as December 1 and 2, for a total of four performances. Each night, more than 47,000 people pack the stadium, for a total of more than 188,000 concertgoers expected over the course of the four performances. At the YouTube Theater, which has a capacity of 6,400 seats, the concert will also be broadcast live on the internet.
