5 Second Leads Who Gained More Attention in Their Dramas

They might be the second leads in their dramas but they never failed to capture everyone's attention once they appear onscreen.

These four actors and an actress might not be the leads in their dramas but they managed to steal the limelight from the leads and hook audiences into their performances each week.

Kim Dowan (Start-up, My Roommate is a Gumiho)

This handsome actor came into our recognition as one of Nam Dosan's friends Kim Yongsan in the highly-successful Netflix drama Start-up. He didn't have much screentime until their confrontation with Han Jipyeong (played by Kim Seonho), where he showed that he has quite decent acting chops as well. Recently, he's been appearing alongside Jang Kiyong and Hyeri in My Roommate is a Gumiho as Do Jaejin, Hyeri's friend in the drama. He has exhibited his likable charms to the viewers and his funny antics made the show more worthwhile watching.

Kang Hanna (Start-up, My Roommate is a Gumiho)

This versatile actress played Seo In-jae in Start-up alongside Suzy, Nam Joohyuk, Kim Seon-ho, and Kim Dowan. Her cold yet caring demeanor earned acting praise from the audience, and she followed it up with another drama My Roommate is a Gumiho where she plays a spirit joining Jang Kiyong's character in the drama. Fun fact: looks like she's going to have a loveline with none other than Kim Dowan! Her chic and alluring demeanor has endeared herself to the viewers.

Kim Seon-ho (Start-up, Welcome to Waikiki 2)

Kim Seon-ho was a latecomer in the television industry, having debuted at the age of 32 in Good Manager alongside Namgoong Min and Lee Junho. He also appeared in The Strongest Deliveryman, Welcome to Waikiki 2, 100 Days My Prince, and Start-up, where he played Han Jipyeong, Suzy's second lead in the drama. His impeccable acting chops enabled him to get a legion of fans, and thus #TeamGoodBoy was born. His stellar acting in Start-up earned him an acting nomination as Best Supporting Actor in the recently-concluded Baeksang Arts Awards. He is slated to appear alongside Shin Min-ah in a new drama entitled Hometown Cha-cha-cha.

Hwang Inyeop (The Tale of Nokdu, 18 Again, True Beauty)

Before we all got to know him as the cold yet charismatic Han Seojun in True Beauty, we first saw him in The Tale of Nokdu. His acting performance earned the praise of everyone, who was stunned to see a rookie actor deliver an amazing performance alongside drama greats like Kim Sohyun and Jang Dongyoon. His funny portrayal of Han Seojun in True Beauty and also as Goo Jasung in 18 Again has earned him lots of fans due to the fact that he's already 31 years old! What a youthful face and acting chops to seal the deal.

Yook Sungjae (Goblin, School 2015, Mystic Pop-up Bar)

Yook Sungjae's acting in School 2015 as Gong Taekwang has made the fans form two teams: Team Han Yi-an and Team Gong Taekwang. That's how impressive he is in acting. His acting performances in Goblin as Deokhwa and Mystic Pop-up Bar as Han Kang-bae were also noteworthy, and he is known as one of the good examples of idol actors who transitioned smoothly into acting.
