Lee Dong Wook opens up about his upcoming drama "Bad and Crazy"!
"Bad and Crazy," a new tvN redemption drama directed by Yoo Sun Dong and written by Kim Sae Bom, who previously collaborated on the hit OCN drama "The Uncanny Counter," is about the tumultuous events that happen when two unlikely heroes come together. Wi Ha Joon will play "mad guy" K, a vigilante who is extremely enthusiastic about justice, and Lee Dong Wook will play the capable "bad guy" Ryu Soo Yeol.
"Writer Kim Sae Bom's screenplay was excellent," Lee Dong Wook said when asked why he chose to feature in the drama. The storyline was so entertaining that I believe the drama would provide audiences with a unique and refreshing form of entertainment, unlike anything they've seen before."
Lee Dong Wook also talked about his character Ryu Soo Yeol, saying, "Our drama's main strength is the powerful and daring action," expressing complete faith in the future drama. “I'm grateful to our martial arts team every time we shoot since they support us so much that I don't have to prepare anything extra for filming."
He went on to say, "We have wonderful teamwork with the employees as well. Our crew members are diligent in their planning, and director Yoo Sun Dong is the ultimate workaholic on set.” He added, “Every time we shoot a scene, he meticulously directs each and every aspect. During filming, I'm putting my faith in the director's loving direction, and we're getting along swimmingly. I find myself wondering, 'Wouldn't this drama certainly end up doing well?' because everyone is always working hard and not taking breaks. '”
Lee Dong Wook also revealed that his first impression of co-star Wi Ha Joon was far from what the reality is.
"The actor who deviated the most from my original opinion of him is Ha Joon, who has a wonderful smile," he remarked. "At first, I assumed he'd be distant, but after seeing him in person, I discovered that he's incredibly kind, and he's always polite to his elders and even his coworkers. He's laid-back, and I think he exudes an upright appeal."
Wi Ha Joon's work ethic was also praised by Lee Dong Wook, who said, "Ha Joon is always very prepared, and he's really meticulous in his preparations. It got to the point where I questioned, ‘How is it possible that he arrived as ‘mad person K’ in the flesh from the very first shoot?’ He added, “He meticulously prepares his pieces at all times.”
On the other hand, Han Ji Eun, who will play Ryu Soo Yeol's ex-girlfriend and colleague investigator Lee Hee Kyum, was also mentioned by Lee Dong Wook.
"Every day is so frantic, joyful, and busy," he said, "that the set now feels like home. In particular, Ji Eun has been labeled our set's chatterbox, and every time I speak with her, I say to myself, 'Wow, she's so joyful.'"
Meanwhile, Lee Dong Wook describes Cha Hakyeon, who will play upright police officer Oh Kyung Tae, as the mood setter of the group. “He's always upbeat and full of positive energy, and I can see he puts in a lot of effort to get ready [for filming] every time he visits the set."
"I'm looking forward to the first meeting between Soo Yeol and K, which was filmed in a sauna," Lee Dong Wook said when asked which moment in the drama he's most excited to see. We were constantly sweating and suffering a lot while filming, and Ha Joon in particular endured a lot. So many parts [of that scene] must have been tough for him, such as not being able to see clearly since he was wearing a helmet, but because he's so adept at action scenes, we were able to film it flawlessly."
Finally, Lee Dong Wook teased, "From the start, our drama will be refreshingly fast-paced and action-packed." I hope that through viewing our drama, viewers will feel a sense of vicarious fulfillment and catharsis that they will not be able to feel in real life. I'd also appreciate it if everyone showed their admiration for 'Bad and Boujee'.
“Bad and Crazy” will premiere on December 17, 10:40 P.M KST. What are your expectations for this new drama?
