[OPINION] 2 Days 1 Night Should Invite More Guests

While the cast members are funny in their own different way, having a clear lack of guests only shows how far can the members go in terms of being entertaining.

2 Days 1 Night season came back with a fresh batch of cast members and a new director in the face of Bang Geul-yi, a former PD in the Return of Superman and Happy Together. While the new cast was able to get the show back on track after a disastrously abrupt end to the third season, even winning awards for Kim Seon-ho, Dindin, Yeon Junghoon and Moon Seyoon, one glaring difference that this current season has from the previous season is the lack of guests appearing in the episodes.

The previous season was known to be flocked with celebrities -- from actors and actresses promoting their dramas and new shows in KBS to idol groups promoting their comebacks -- which showed a lot of fun moments between the cast members and the guests. In particular, the Hwarang episode with Park Seojoon and Choi Minho showed a lot of funny sides from these traditionally uptight actors.

Aside from the speckle of guests, from former announcer Ahn Hyun-mo, to singing legend Kim Yeon-ja, the guests who appeared in the current season can only be counted by the fingers on our hands. There were no Morning Angels too -- surprise guests who would wake up the members before starting the second day. So far, we have only seen Kim Seonho himself and Dindin's mother who appeared as Morning Angels this season.

The members themselves are funny, and Moon Seyoon is doing a great job steering the ship as the captain of the group who is in charge on negotiating deals with the staff for the sake of the members. Dindin and Kim Jongmin are variety veterans already who have brought their A-game in interacting with the other members. Newcomers Kim Seonho, Ravi, and Yeon Junghoon took a bit of time adjusting but they embraced their roles perfectly -- Seonho as the visual of the season, Junghoon as the old man, and Ravi as the cheeky youngest.

However, watching them interact with the other members can get bland. It's like eating kimchi stew for one year without any side dishes. Even though the members keep on offering a lot of things on the table, it can get very boring and monotonous.

I don't know why the PD doesn't want to open the doors of the show to guests, maybe it's because of the health restrictions, but then again, all the other shows have invited guests successfully. Look at Running Man. They managed to invite so many actors, actresses, and idols to join them in their episodes. If SBS can do it, why not KBS?

I'm still hoping we can see different faces in the succeeding episodes, especially when it's Ravi's time to go to the military by the end of the year.

The show's doing great, but it won't help to add extra ingredients to make it much more palatable.
