With so many talented fans from all over the world, it is not a secret that the world of fanfictions and webtoons based on celebrities is garnering attention from various people. This popularity is not only limited to fans but producers, directors and the likes are taking an interest, as well.
One thing we might not know is how a lot of series are based on fan fiction and one of them is boys' love story, with GOT7 as the main characters. The Thai BL drama, “Nitiman: The Series” is actually a GOT7 fan fanfiction with the title “Nitiman: the Society and Lover” with Jay B and Jinyoung, also known as JJ Project, as the main couple. Even the characters’ names “Bom” and “Jin” is enough evidence to prove that it is indeed inspired by the two members.
The Thai drama revolves around university students Jin and Bom. Jin develops affections for his ex-cousin girlfriend's Bam, who had previously expressed interest in him. It stars Jom Thanathorn Khuankaew as Jinake/Jin and Noh Phouluang Thongprasert as Be Bomb/Bom.
“Jinake Saman is the university moon in the engineering faculty, known across the whole campus as the hottest moon. There was the saying among the campus ‘Nothing and no one was hotter than Mr. Jin!’ One day when he broke up with his girlfriend, Aim, he fell apart in despair. He later discovered that Aim who broke his heart is the cousin of law student Be Bomb. Jin misunderstands and thinks that Bom and his cousin were flirting when in fact he likes Jin. Bom has liked Jin since he was a freshman a year ago after Jin exchanged Bom’s lunchbox (because he can’t eat anything spicy) with his food and rice. As feelings grow between them, can Jin understand Bom’s true intentions and come to see Bom as more than just a junior?” (Shannon0l0 at MyDramaList)
Aside from the 2 members Jay B and Jinyoung, one character of the story “Jack” is speculated to have been inspired by another GOT7 member, which is Jackson. The actor and Jackson also kind of resemble each other, making it harder to deny that he was the inspiration for the character.
In addition to the recently-concluded “Nitiman the Series,” another upcoming Thai series is heavily-inspired by a GOT7 fanfiction wherein Mark and BamBam are the main characters. “Not Me” is a GMMTV Thai series that will air towards the end of 2021 which stars Off Jumpol and Gun Attaphan, who is, ironically, a friend of BamBam.
