IZ*ONE’s Choi Yena impresses 2NE1’s Sandara Park

Yena lost 'The King of Mask Singer' but got to perform for her idol.

Ex-IZ*ONE member Choi Yena peformed on The King of Mask Singer as MBTI. After singing 4MEN’s “I Can’t” with MSG, Yena earned 6 votes to the latter’s 15.

She unmasked herself while singing Chungha’s “Why Don’t You Know.”

She said, “This was my first time to sing an entire song by myself. I was really nervous, so I ended up losing my voice a little. But it’s still an honor to be able to stand on the stage of The King of Mask Singer.”

Yena is the fourth IZ*ONE alum to sing on the show. According to her, she decided to do so after watching her bandmate Kim Chaewon’s recent appearance.

Yena said she went into her stint wanting to impress panelist Sandara Park, and she did. Sandara voted for Yena to move on to the next round, which pleased the Produce 48 alum.

She explained, “I wanted to be idol after I watched 2NE1. I thought, ‘I want to be like them,’ so it would be an honor to get Sandara Park’s vote.”

Yena plans to continue dancing and singing while pursuing a career in TV. She asked fans to look forward to her future endeavors.
