Wheesung has come under fire for promoting a Christmas show while on probation for misusing propofol, an anesthetic drug.

Wheesung's management company, Realslow Company, announced on Monday that the singer will perform at a Christmas event in Busan on December 24.

Many internet users, however, reacted to the disclosure with scorn rather than excitement. In October, the singer was sentenced to one year in prison with a one-year suspended sentence and two years of probation for misusing the sedative on 11 occasions.

Netizens who are opposed to Wheesung's quick return to the stage claim that two months is insufficient time for him to repent of his criminal conviction.

Wheesung said after his appeal hearing in October that he was "sorry to create worry and would focus on recovery," but that he longed for another "chance to connect with fans."
