Stray Kids’ Bang Chan and Lee Know recently surprised fans with “Drive,” a new track the former wrote with the latter, as well as music producer taalthechoi. It serves as the latest installment in the JYP Entertainment boy group’s SKZ-PLAYER series, and its official MV can be streamed on their official YouTube channel.
Soon after the “Drive” video premiered, the track itself caused a stir among Stray Kids’ fans—also known as STAYs—because of its suggestive lyrics. Bang Chan and Lee Know worked on the lyrics together, and while it’s not actually an explicit song, most of the lines they came up with have double meanings.
For instance, the first part of the hook goes like this: “Start the engine and drive again tonight / Drive non-stop feel the heat inside / Baby I can do this every day and night / Just trust and follow me tonight.”
Although the track threw STAYs for a loop, they were pleased that both Bang Chan and Lee Know are credited with working on it. They knew how much the former wanted to collaborate with the latter. In an interview he did recently, Bang Chan expressed a desire to try something new with Lee Know.
“Lee Know and I are the oldest hyungs, so I want to challenge myself by doing a more mature performance with him,” he said.
In STAYs’ eyes, the trap-influenced RB track represents a dream come true for Stray Kids’ leader. But they’re not the only ones who love it. So does Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds. After he watched the “Drive” video, the Deadpool actor wrote a hilarious comment on it that said, “Here for Chris Reynolds.” (Bang Chan once called himself “Chris Reynolds” on the fan community app Bubble.)
You’re not alone, Ryan. STAYs from all over the world are here for Chris Reynolds—er, Bang Chan—and this sizzling new song he and Lee Know did together!
