Yoo Ah In recently shared his opinions on his participation in the Netflix series "Hellbound" in an interview!
"Hellbound," directed by Yeon Sang Ho of "Train to Busan," is a six-part Netflix series set in a world where mankind is confronted with a terrifying supernatural phenomenon: ambassadors from hell who descend on Earth without warning and sentence people to hell. A new religion led by Jung Jin Soo (played by Yoo Ah In) emerges among the chaos created by this horrific new reality, while others anxiously hunt for the truth behind this bizarre event.
Yoo Ah In recounted how he tried to watch "Hellbound" from the perspective of a spectator when asked if the series' massive popularity felt genuine. "I was so engrossed in watching the series at the same time that it flew by," he explained. "Everyone wants to be first, so I enjoy it as well." As an actor, I'm grateful to be able to participate in this. The key thing to remember is that winning first place on the world stage is not something that happens every day. I'm extremely grateful that this medium allowed the series to reach a global audience."
Yoo Ah In also highlighted a comment from a spectator that he remembered. "The reaction that delighted me the most was a comment put on YouTube by a Korean fan who stated, 'That's right.'" he recounted. Yoo Ah In is the ideal person for taking this to the global stage.' I felt like I'd taken on the role of the country's envoy, and while I was happy about it, I also felt some pressure."
Yoo Ah In played cult leader Jung Jin Soo in the film "Hellbound." He talked about how he prepared for the job by going over references with director Yeon Sang Ho to flesh out his character, and how he was concerned about keeping his character in people's minds. "He's a really strong character, and while other characters appear to have their feet on the ground and their gazes on the sky, Jung Jin Soo seems to float in the air," he explained. I considered how I might be able to reconcile that disparity. Working with the other cast members, I believe I found the perfect balance and tone during production."
"While working together, I thought he was a person who is witty and intriguing, and who does anything he sets his mind to," Yoo Ah In said of Yeon Sang Ho. On the other hand, I have the impression that he is a delicate and subtle individual. It made me want to collaborate with him on numerous projects."

Viewers expressed their dissatisfaction with Jung Jin Soo's death, which they felt came too soon in the series. "It would be amazing if I could come back, ha ha," Yoo Ah In said when asked if he would be interested in returning for the second season. Aside from the jokes, he was a figure that had a big effect with a little number of appearances."
"I'm grateful that so many people thought his death was a pity, and I'm someone who's getting over his regret and hope for another appearance," he continued. Do you believe he has a chance of surviving? ”
Yoo Ah In also considered what he would do if he were told he would die in 20 years, similar to what Jung Jin Soo experienced. "I've lived through my 20s with the energy of not caring if I died the next day," he remarked, before adding, "Don't we move through life accepting the fact that we'll die someday?" Death is always around us, even if we act as if it doesn't exist."
"I hope everyone will remember it the way they choose to remember it," Yoo Ah In remarked in response to a question on how he wanted viewers to remember his involvement in "Hellbound." My big roles in 'Sado' and 'Veteran' brought me a lot of love, but they also locked me in certain expectations. After that, I spent some time trying out different roles to show what I could do. Then, when portraying Jung Jin Soo, who exudes such a powerful energy, I feel as if I've given everyone a more improved look."
