Tving Announces 2022 Lineup

Some dramas will have second seasons, and new dramas are lined up.

According to the firm, the number of subscribers to CJ ENM's streaming platform Tving has climbed considerably since October last year as a result of the company's original content, which has been released.

As of Dec. 18, the number of paying members to Tving had climbed by 256 percent, a development that the firm ascribed to the success of its 60 original and exclusive content pieces that it launched in January and which have since become popular.

Tving, the streaming platform operator, announced on Tuesday a list of new Tving originals that would be released in the first half of next year in order to further broaden its reach.

The original drama "Yonder," directed by Lee Joon-ik, a master of period films and thriller series, and "Monstrous" (working title), directed by Yeon Sang-ho, who is well-known for directing multiple zombie films, including "Train to Busan" and "Peninsula," are two examples of notable original dramas directed by renowned film directors. As a director, Yeon is best known for the recent successful Netflix series "Hellbound."

"Yonder" is Lee's debut drama series, and it stars two well-known actors, Shin Ha-kyun and Han Ji-min, in the lead roles. The play depicts the narrative of a guy who travels to a place where he may see his deceased wife for the first time.

The film "Monstrous" tells the narrative of a town in which a cursed Buddha statue comes unexpectedly. In addition, the series features a number of well-known actors, including Koo Kyo-hwan and Shin Hyun-bin.

Some of the most popular drama series that premiered in the last year, such as "Yumi's Cells" and "Work Later, Drink Now," are also included on the list. A new season of popular variety programs such as "Girls' High School Mystery Class" (translated) and "Transit Love" (translated) will premiere in the fall of 2019.

Tving also said that it will collaborate with its strategic partner ViacomCBS to develop a Paramount+ area on the streaming platform, which will feature iconic titles like as "Top Gun" and "Mission Impossible."

The Korean material produced by CJ ENM will also be available on Paramount+ for the US market. Meanwhile, on December 14, K-Content from CJ ENM was made available on Pluto TV, a ViacomCBS streaming channel, for audiences in the United States.
