Moon Se-Yoon Takes Home the Daesang in 2021 KBS Entertainment Awards

This is his first time winning a Daesang since his debut in the early 2000s.

Moon Se-yoon, a South Korean comedian, celebrated the end of the year by receiving the grand award at the KBS Entertainment Awards on Saturday.

Recognized for his work on three television episodes — "Godfather," "Trot Magic," and "2 Days 1 Night" — the 39-year-old performer was handed the top prize at KBS headquarters in Yeouido, western Seoul, in recognition of his achievements on three television shows.

For the major prize this year, there were four additional nominees. They were Kim Sook, who was awarded the main prize in 2020, singer and entertainer Kim Jong-min, former broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moe, and soccer player Park Joo-ho.

"I had no expectation of receiving a visit from Santa Claus. While carrying the weight of the grand prize, I'm not sure if I'll be able to maintain my performance level, but I'll try my best to work hard," Moon stated.

While expressing his admiration for the other nominees, Moon expressed gratitude to those who had had a significant impact on his life.

The majority of my friends and family members believe that I have a poor track record when it comes to winning prizes. Nonetheless, I recognize that I was fortunate enough to collaborate with extraordinary people. I'd want to express my gratitude to the cast and crew of '2 Days 1 Night,' particularly director Bang Geul-yi, actor Yeon Jung-hoon, singer Kim Jong-min, actor Kim Seon-ho, and rappers DinDin and Ravi, who have become like brothers and sisters to me." Moon expressed himself.

A heartfelt thank you to Kim Sook and Shin Dong-yeob, who the comedian expressed his deep thanks to for helping him stay strong and give him confidence during difficult times.

Moon, who made his television debut as a comedian on SBS 20 years ago, got his first award — for outstanding achievement in variety — in 2020. Moon has gained increasing recognition in recent years as a result of her appearances in a number of television series on a variety of networks.

Aside from his appearances on tvN's long-running skit show "Comedy Big League," Moon gained widespread attention through Comedy TV's "Tasty Guys," a program in which four comedians who enjoy eating visit and demonstrate various dishes at local restaurants. Moon has also appeared on tvN's "Comedy Big League."

Meanwhile, additional awards were presented to members of "2 Days 1 Night," including entertainer of the year for Kim, the rookie award in variety for Ravi, the excellence in variety award for Yeon, and the screenwriting award for Rho Jin-young. For the second year in a row, the Sunday night variety show has been crowned the finest program on television.

"2 Days 1 Night" is a Sunday night program on KBS that has been airing for 15 years and in which six television personalities go to various locations across South Korea to promote their shows. KBS2 broadcasts the show every Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
