SBS's "Kick a Goal" Under Fire For Tampering Scores in Broadcast

The production crew did it to make everything look entertaining in the final cuts.

Since a result of SBS's negligence and subsequent apology for tampering with part of the video in its women's soccer show, "Kick a Goal," which aired on Friday, public fury over the program is unlikely to abate anytime soon, as new questions about the show are being raised by netizens.

According to an anonymous writer, the most recent episode of "Kick a Goal" prompted allegations that the timing and scores had been manipulated by the production team. On Friday, the show's production team posted an apology on its official website, apologizing for the situation.

According to the statement, "We sincerely regret for changing the order of the broadcast material and generating confusion among our viewers."

"Although the game outcomes and final scores did not alter from what was aired, the sequence of the edits did not correspond to the order of the games in the broadcast." The occurrences occurred as a result of the negligence of the employees. It has been acknowledged by our team that the integrity of athletics comes first before the quest of entertainment," the production team stated.

Although the program has issued an apology, it has been unable to quell mounting public outrage from viewers.

In light of the fact that Korean football giants such as Lee Young-pyo and Lee Chun-soo are participating in the program, it is quite difficult to comprehend how anything like this could occur. One internet user responded on a post on the local online community DCinside, saying, "Bae Sung-jae is even a sportscaster, who broadcasts numerous sporting events, including the Premier League."

Taking a stand in the escalating dispute, Bae stated that he had no knowledge of how the scores were manipulated and that his voice had been edited during the broadcast.

"I was occasionally requested by members of the crew to record additional comments regarding the scores, plays, and exclamation points that were being made. Moreover, I had no idea such comments would be utilized to tamper with film," Bae stated in a live broadcast on social media that took place on Friday.

"I should have exercised greater caution in what I said." I am stunned that this type of thing occurred in my life, and I am not willing to place the responsibility on anybody else. As for me, I'm not willing to back out of accepting responsibility," Bae said.

Unverified rumors that the production team's tampering with the tape is not their first error are being circulated on social media in the wake of the tampering allegations. According to the post, the scores shown on television and the real numbers displayed on the scoreboard are different.

Following a goal by Saori, the score between the two sides was revised from 2-1 to 2-2, according to the television broadcast." However, the scoreboard indicated that the game was already 3-1. The final result of the game was 3-2. In the web post, it was written, "I can't help but have reservations about the production crew."

After six weeks of dominating the ratings among variety shows running in the same time slot, "Kick a Goal" is firmly established as the most popular Wednesday night show on broadcast television. The program took in eight honors at the SBS Entertainment Awards, which were held on December 18.
