Balming Tiger, an 'alternative K-pop group', will be the first Korean singer to hold a solo showcase at 'South by Southwest' (SXSW), the largest music industry festival in North America.
According to Balming Tiger on the 8th, Balming Tiger will hold a showcase in Reina, Austin, Texas, USA on the 19th while SXSW is being held to greet global music fans.
Held every March in Austin, Texas, SXSW is known as 'the world's top three music markets'. It is a global entertainment event with hundreds of thousands of participants from over 100 countries.
Red Velvet, Mamamoo, Hyuna, iKON, Lee Hi, Crush, DEAN, Jay Park, and Epik High have performed on SXSW so far. Balming Tiger explained that the difference is that their stage is organized as a solo showcase, rather than performing with other artists on the lineup on the same stage.
A Balming Tiger official said, "It is the first time for a solo showcase at SXSW among Korean labels, collectives, crews, and artists."
In this showcase, team members such as Omega Sapien, Mudd the Student, and BJ Wnjn, as well as close fellow musicians of the group, SE SO NEON's So!YoON!, Lil Cherry GOLDBUUDA, Ted Park, Y2K92 and more. In addition, Tampa, Florida-based rap duo 'They Hate Change' will also join in and set up the stage with them.
Balming Tiger was also invited as SXSW's lineup in 2020, but the offline festival was canceled for the first time in 34 years due to the COVID-19 crisis, and an online live performance to replace it was presented.
After SXSW, Balming Tiger will go on a European tour in May for about a month. The band's frontman, Omega Sapien, is about to release a new EP produced by Bauer, the No. 1 producer on Billboard, in early April.
