Lee Byung-hun wins Asian Film Excellence Award

The actor made record as the first Korean to win the award.

At the 15th Asian Film Awards, renowned actor Lee Byung-hun received the 'Asian Film Excellence Award.'

The Asian Film Awards (AFAA) is an annual awards ceremony hosted by the Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA), which was founded in 2013 by the Busan International Film Festival, the Hong Kong International Film Festival, and the Tokyo International Film Festival to promote Asian cinema. The Asian Film Excellence Award is awarded to an Asian filmmaker who has made exceptional contributions to Asian cinema and culture.

 

Lee Byung-hun made his debut in 1991 and charmed the globe with his unmatched presence and a vast range of acting that spans several genres. His exceptional understanding and analysis of the work, in particular, completes a three-dimensional character and fills it with powerful energy. This creates an overpowering sensation of viewer attention.

 

His domestic and international honors are also outstanding. Lee Byung-hun, who won the Best Actor Award at approximately ten major award ceremonies, including the 2016 Daejong Film Festival and Blue Dragon Film Awards for the film 'Inside Men' (2015), became the first Asian actor to become a presenter at the American Academy Film Festival in 2015 and an honorary member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2016.

 

Lee Byung-hun's list of awards includes two Asian Film Awards for Best Actor for 'Inside Men' (2015) and 'The Managers of Namsan' (2016). (2020). Following the success of last year's event, the 15th Asia Film Awards will once again be presented in conjunction with the Busan International Film Festival. The awards ceremony will be placed at the Paradise Hotel Busan on October 8 (Fri) at 8 p.m. and will be aired live on YouTube and Naver during the 26th Busan International Film Festival.
